Hi we just talked about this in chat.

UNEVDX is moving to their new home at the WPI in the University of Nevada.

 :)

So I think UNEVDX probably stands for.........   University of NEVada Diagnosti X

VIPDX which stood for.................... Viral Immune Pathology Diagnostics

The commercial XMRV tests (viral culture and serology assay) that have been performed by VIP Dx will no longer be offered by VIP Dx, but by UNEVX, a wholly owned lab of the Whittemore Peterson Institute.  The serology results will take up to 8 weeks and the culture results will take up to 15 weeks.

The VIP Dx website is no longer active, except for a message announcing the change and stating that, as of June 6, 2011, VIP Dx will not accept blood samples for any clinical tests anymore. Currently pending tests will be completed and reported by VIP Dx in accordance with the VIP Dx testing and reporting schedule. For questions regarding pending tests, VIP Dx's customer service is available at 775-351-1890 or info@vipdx.com.

The UNEVX website is not operational yet.

Based on this post ProHealth from a year ago, it looks like VIP Dx was acquired by the WPI:

"VIP Dx has also recently entered into an agreement to be acquired by the Whittemore Peterson Institute, and become an integral part of the Institute.

The clinical laboratory will continue to operate under the name VIP Dx, until it moves to the University of Nevada's Center for Molecular Medicine in August 2010.

At that time, the lab will operate within the Institute under the name Unevx, providing services and revenue to the Institute in a manner similar to other institutional clinical reference laboratories."

The Whittemores bought a Reno test lab company several years ago (Red Labs?), they reformed it as VIP Dx, so it was under the WPI umbrella all the time, not a recent acquisition.

I think they meant to do this sooner, that's why the reference is the ProHealth quote to 2010 (assuming ProHealth had good information).

I can only guess that the official corporate structure of VIP Dx was different than that of UNEVX because otherwise it wouldn't make sense to stress that UNEVX is wholly owned by WPI. But for practical purposes, things might be the same as they have been until now. Don't know.

I think VIP Dx was owned by a trust set up by the Whittemores whereas UNEVX will be owned directly by WPI?

Why the change from VIPdx to UNEVX ?
« Reply #9 on: June 07, 2011, 10:34:00 AM »
Does anyone know what the rationalle is behind the switch from VIPdx to the new WPI owned lab, UNEVX, as described here :

http://thoughtsaboutme.com/2011/06/06/xmrv-tests-now-offered-by-wpi-lab-not-vip-dx-anymore/

Is it to do with the new and improved testing methodology which is due out about now ?

Sorry not a clue GOP,

I do know that the move of venue is long underdue and they were have been planning this for a long time. We expected the new test in June and VIP dx have stopped sending out the old test kits (well they did for a couple of USA people who asked recently).

Someone who wants testing (and has an old kit) is going to ring them tonight so I'll post if I know further news.
