Congrats! How long did the herxing last?

I did take minocycline 10 years ago for acne and that was horrible, feeling worse and worse until 21 days into it, at which point I discontinued and felt much better very quickly (a few days). My side effects were nausea, fatigue, felling very heavy, and worst of all, very bad breath and bad taste in my mouth and needing to drink over a gallon of water a day. Just feeling incredibly toxic. Of course, taking for acne it wasn't worth it, I'd rather have acne from Hell. I have always wondered why I got such nasty side effects, my dermatologist said he had never heard of that before.

I think doxy is gentler than mino. But not everyone can tolerate either. Both are potent immune modulators, and it is this that is responsible for the initial nasty feeling that we with compromised immune systems get when we take them - all of a sudden we start fighting off things that we had not been clearing effectively. As is clear on this thread, many of us have benefited a lot from either doxy or mino. My nastiness lasted about a week this time.

Thanks, awol. I have been very interested in trying doxy for awhile now. I might take the plunge soon.
Quality over quantity.

I have been back on doxy for several weeks now and am doing great. I went to Bali for the xmas holidays, and survived the trip rather well. No post-trip crash at all. I even went surfing! Ok, I only lasted about 1/2 hour with a break in between and only actually stood (sort of) on the board once....but hey...I went surfing!

I have also regained the ability to do Sudoku puzzles and read full novels without wearing myself out. These were essential skills for very long flights with very long waits in a couple of airports along the way.

I <3 doxy!

If I weren't taking doxy I'd be on disability right now. Because of it, I'm still able to work full-time. It improved all my symptoms, but when I go off, they return.

For the people currently taking doxycycline, is there a standard dosage? E.g. "50mg 2 times a day" or whatever? Or are you all on different?
In Mikovits, Ruscetti and Lipkin I trust.

Belief in the "false illness belief" is religion, not science. Where is your proof? Where is your cure?

herxing/IRIS/general crappiness almost over, now to the good part. A fog free brain. :)

@since - I am taking the acne dose as before - 100 mg 2x a day. Perhaps people who are sicker than me would need more to benefit, but this is enough to significantly help me.

Think I might have just found my answer. Is the 100mg 2x a day the most common dose for ME?

I don't know about ME, but this is the most common dose for most uses, and doxy has many. This is why it is easy to get from doctors who can use many other excuses to give it to you.
